Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 12)

GOOD. Water stained; 55 degrees; 0.16 feet below pool. Lake Granbury water temperatures have been see-sawing from the low to upper 50s. Water levels are normal and relatively clear. Sand bass fishing on the upper ends continues to be good, however many of the sand bass are holding in deep water and can be caught on the main lake in 20-35 feet of water on small jigs. Many of these sand bass have not spawned yet. Striped bass are fair to good to 10 pounds on jerkbaits on heavy jig heads from Sandy Point to the Shores. Striped bass are holding near channel ledges where bait fish are holding. Largemouth bass are best on those warmer days when they are more active. Best reports come from near creek entrances and deeper docks. Soft plastics and slow rolling crankbaits are putting those largemouth bass in the boat. Crappies are still holding on deeper structure but are sure to start moving towards their spawning grounds. Big blue and yellow cats are still best on the upper ends using cut shad. Some good blue action is also good in deeper water near huddled baitfish. Report by Michael Acosta, Unfair Advantage Charters. Granbury night catfish bite is slow. Bait fish are scattered on the north end. Lots of large debris floating in the channel. Report by Jeffery Sojourner, Sojourner Fishing LLC.
